G3 in Materials Science, GSAB Chair
I am a second-year graduate student in Materials Science, working in the lab of Professor Katherine Faber. As a first-generation, non-traditional student who initially dropped out of college to help support my family after financial struggles, I've come to deeply appreciate the significance of academic equity. While Caltech offers an array of resources to support its students, the challenge often lies in the awareness and accessibility of these resources. The structure of the Division of Engineering and Applied Science (EAS) fosters independence, which often leads to an unintentional disconnect between departments, restricting the exchange of resources and information. Through GSAB, I aim to bridge these gaps and cultivate a unified EAS community culture. My goal is to foster enhanced communication and collaboration across departments, build a more tangible and inclusive EAS culture, celebrate diversity, and ensure that every student can utilize and benefit from the resources Caltech provides.
