G3 Mechanical Engineering
I came to Caltech to study mechanical engineering after completing my undergraduate studies in Earth sciences at the University of Oxford. My research uses physics-based numerical simulations to explain seismic observations and better understand various mechanisms behind natural and induced earthquakes. At Oxford, I held various student representation positions, including being the Divisional Representative for Undergraduates of the Mathematical, Physical, and Life Sciences Division. I have learned much from being a student voice on various university committees, and my positive experiences as a student leader motivated me to join the GSAB in EAS. I am also the president of the ARCA, the Romanian club at Caltech. I spend most of my spare time at the climbing gym in Pasadena or outdoors, hiking or rock climbing.
