Overview
Professor Andrade's research focuses on developing a fundamental understanding of the multiscale and multiphysical behaviors of complex systems—everything from granular matter to energy storage systems (e.g., mechanical batteries). Applications include problems at the interface of physics and mechanics to develop predictive, analytical, and numerical models for granular, porous, and discontinuous systems (e.g., regolith, asteroids, batteries), with special focus on energy, infrastructure, defense, and space missions.
