By combining a new way of modeling quantum systems with increasingly sophisticated machine learning algorithms, researchers, led by John Preskill [Richard P. Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics; Allen V. C. Davis and Lenabelle Davis Leadership Chair, Institute for Quantum Science and Technology] have established a method for classical machines to model and predict quantum behavior. This work was proposed and supervised by CMS PhD student, Robert Huang, and was the 2022 SURF project of CMS undergraduate Laura Lewis (BS '23). [Read the Quanta article]
