Amgen Scholars
Caltech's Amgen Scholars program introduces students to research under
the guidance of seasoned research mentors. Students experience the
process of research as a creative intellectual activity. Amgen Scholarships
will be offered in the following fields: biochemistry; bioengineering;
bioinformatics; chemical and biomolecular engineering; biopsychology;
biotechnology; chemistry; immunology; medical pharmacology; microbiology;
molecular genetics; molecular medicine; molecular pharmacology; molecular,
cell, and developmental biology; neurobiology; neuroscience; pathology;

Japan
Internship Program
This program offers students the opportunity to become familiar
with the development of Japanese company's technology and receive first-hand
experience with the development system. Students will also have the opportunity
to experience Japanese business culture as well as Japanese culture. Please

Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory Research Program
(LIGO)
Graduate and undergraduate students actively participate in the R&D
program of LIGO. While furthering their education in a research environment,
they make important contributions to the progress of the LIGO project.
Students benefit from the diversity of scientific and engineering
skills represented by the LIGO project's technical staff, including
faculty, senior scientists, and engineers, who provide individual
guidance and supervision to students.
MURF
Caltech’s MURF program provides support for talented undergraduates
to spend a summer working in a research laboratory on the Caltech
campus. The MURF program aims to increase the representation of underrepresented
students (such as African American, Latino, and Native American)
in science and engineering graduate programs and to make Caltech’s
programs more visible to students not traditionally exposed to Caltech.
Many MURF students go on to graduate study at Caltech.
NASA Planetary Geology and Geophysics Undergraduate Research Program
NASA provides funding for 8 weeks of summer undergraduate research
for up to 12 qualified applicants. Selected students work closely
with a NASA investigator to learn the details of research in planetary
geosciences.
NASA Space Grant
NASA Space Grant is a national consortium that strengthens colleges
and universities with interests and capabilities in aeronautics,
space science and technology, and related fields and encourages cooperative
programs among colleges, universities, business, and federal, state,
and local governments. Students in the JPL Space Grant program spend
10 weeks in the summer at JPL.
NASA Undergraduate Student Research Program
The NASA-USRP consists of a 10–15 week research experience
at a participating NASA Center under the supervision of a NASA technical
mentor. Selected students must be available to work 10 consecutive
weeks.
Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF)
Caltech's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships program introduces
students to research under the guidance of seasoned research mentors
at Caltech and JPL. Students experience the process of research as
a creative intellectual activity.
Young Engineering and Science Scholars (YESS) Program
The Young Engineering and Science Scholars (YESS) program at Caltech
is a three-week summer residential program for exceptional underrepresented
minority high-school students and others who feel they would benefit
from the program. |
