On-Line Faculty Application: Bio-Circuits

Caltech invites applications for a tenure-track position in the broadly construed area of engineering biological circuits.

We are interested in areas such as synthetic and systems biology, circuit design and analysis, biomolecular information processing, and bionanotechnology. Candidates pursuing wet, dry, in vivo, in vitro, analytic, synthetic, experimental, and/or theoretical research will be considered.  A strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring is also expected.

The successful candidate will have a primary home in Bioengineering, Applied Physics, Computation and Neural Systems, Computer Science, Control and Dynamical Systems, Electrical Engineering, or Applied and Computational Mathematics, as well as the possibility of a joint appointment in Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics. Participation in the Center for Biological Circuit Design, part of Caltech's Information Science and Technology initiative, will provide access to an active research community with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations.

Strong preference will be given to applicants at the assistant professor level, but exceptional candidates at the associate or professor levels will be considered. The term of the initial appointment at the assistant professor level is normally four years, and is contingent upon completion of a Ph.D.

Application Instructions

(1) Applicants should electronically submit an application, including (in pdf format) a letter of application; a brief statement of research accomplishments, interests, and goals; a brief statement of teaching interests; curriculum vitae; and up to three selected reprints or preprints. Please use our on-line application system.

(2) Applicants should arrange to have four letters of reference sent directly to bio-circuits-search@caltech.edu.

Application review will commence on December 31, 2007 and continue until the position is filled.

The California Institute of Technology is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Women, minorities, veterans, and disabled persons are encouraged to apply.
